ARGO is a Bull 7000, sailnumber DEN-7000, buildnumber 7004. It was built 21.12.94 by Greg Young Yachts in New Zealand and imported to Holland 13.1.95. We bought the boat in Naarden, Holland from Jan Verschoor. Jan Verschoor's son Bart, was the importer of Bull 7000's to Holland - and he also imported this boat, which his father bought. Now at 84 years of age Jan Verschoor found that he was getting a bit too old for sailing a Bull 7000 and decided to purchase another boat. By the way, the son Bart Verschoor was competing in the Olympic Games in 1984 in Seoul in the Windsurfing class (4th) and he was also a matchrace crew for Roy Heiner. It was during a trip to New Zealand with Roy Heiner that Bart Verschoor met Greg Young and learned about the Bull 7000.
ARGO was originally 7.0 meters LOA, but has since been extended to 7.5 meters LOA, which is identical to the new Bull 7000's which today are built by Parker Yachts in England. Because of the modification the cockpit is a bit different from the new boats. The transom is open and the port cockpit locker cannot be used to stow the outboard engine as with the new boats. The extra 0.5 meters hull is made from the original mould for the new English boats and the hull shape on ARGO is hence identical to the newer boats.
ARGO will have a DH2002 rating certificate. I am obviously member of Dansk Sportsbådsklub, and of the English Bull 7000 UK Class Association.
About the name ARGO:
ARGO
is the first known name in history for a boat. The original ARGO
was (also) a unique vessel. It was built by Argos for Jason, who used
it on the famous expedition to fetch the Golden Fleece. The crew was
assembled of the finest men within each specific task: the best
boatbuilder (Argos), the best tactician (Castor), the best helmsman
(Tiphys), the best navigator (Polydefkis) etc.

more about the ARGO
legend here.
The boatname ARGO has since then been used several times: the most wellknown (in Denmark) is possibly the vessel ARGO, which took Danish freedom fighter Christmas-Møller to England during the second world war.
The current ARGO is the second in our line. The first ARGO was an X-79, DEN-31, which we owned from 1996 to 2001.
